    Lampasas Hog

Forgot to post this 3 weeks ago. Went out to fill protein feeders and do a little late night hog hunting in the full moon. Night did not start out well. On the way out, my buddy was pulled over behind me as we were hauling 3 tons of feed to the ranch. The cop actually past us as we were in the right lane going up a hill between lampasas and Adamsville, then he pull over to shoulder and let us go buy, then pulled behind Sean and pulled him over. He asked him all these Drug questions and wanted to look in his car etc.... I went to the next hill and watched via binoculars as 2 more cops pulled up. They got him out of the truck. After about 5 min of him standing in the grass, I circled around and went back and waited across the road for him so they knew he was with me. Then after they could find no tickets, or drugs or beer or anything, the SOB gave him a ticket for following to close to me.. He was about 5-6 car lengths back from me. It was total BS and they profiled his junky black explorer with tented windows..

Anyway, got to the ranch, filled on feeder, backed the truck up over cedar stump and heard that tire fart you hate to hear.. No worries, Sean was following in the ranger because we were tailgating areas to stalk hogs once it got dark. We left the truck til later and continued on. Next stop was about 1 mile away and Sean laid down some corn with the tailgate feeder. Then we stoped to put protein in another feeder. That is when we saw the steam out of the ranger....URggg.... we waited for it to cool off then refilled with water.. The fan was not working so it got hot.. Hauled but to house and switch our gear into the Explorer. about 2 hours later we hit the spots we corned. On the way back to the truck after walking up on some corn, we saw a big pig to our right about 50 yards. It was a full moon and we were standing in the middle of a Cedar flat.

The pig was walking left, then right, then left then right, all in one spot.. Put the Binos up and could see he was on the fence. We realize he was really close to the truck, but could not see it becuase of a big cedar we parked in. He finally got through the fence.. As he Walked behind a cedar going Right to left, I took 2 big steps to the side to get into the shade of a big Cedar. Sean was screwed, he was in the middle of the road with no shade. He could not see the pig as he was walking to his left side out of view. Well the pig cleared the tree and I was at full draw. Sean never knew I drew. I looked over at Sean and he was bobbing his head around trying to find the pig through the trees. About that Time I let loose and scared the crap out of Sean. I busted the pig at about 26 yards. I went right through his shoulder about half way up. Believe it or not, he dropped in his tracks and screamed.. And screamed and Screamed. I Had to put another arrow in him to shut him up.... Well actually I had to put 3 more in him. At point blank range, I shot him in his heart/lungs 3 times before he died.

Here is a next day LDP.
