This is not the biggest buck by any means, but I'm still proud of him. If any of you have ever hunted at Firstpoint or at any other day lease, you know it is difficult to kill a mature deer. The second evening of the hunt around 7:05 pm this guy walked out and stopped in my shooting lane with his leg forward just long enough. He only made it about 60 yds. into the brush. The deer down there are famous for ducking arrows. I had mentally planned to aim just at the bottom of the deer. When the time came, my instincts took over and I aimed right at his heart. The deer didn't drop much at all like I thought he would and I made a perfect shot. I'm glad my instincts took over at the moment of truth, or I may have shot too low. We had a really good hunt and always seem to meet some really nice guys when we are there. Watch out for rattlesnakes. They were extremely bad this past weekend. 3 over six feet were killed.
