    Big CAT Down....

Loaded up and headed South of San Antonio to the ranch for a day of feeder filling and beverage drinking...maybe even tell a lie or two. I had brought along the bow because there are always hogs...always! And why not get a little practice in with my new Z7 Extreme.

So we get to the ranch unload our things and crack open a beverage... man it was HOT! Cold drink was soooooo good and we had not filled the first feeder.( okay, so we are not really filling the feeders. just more like checking to make sure they are being filled...... But it was still HOT! )

After several more beverages and confirmation that the first 7 feeders were being filled adn we had watched tons of turkey and quail, i decided the next feeder we hit I was gonna walk to the near by tank and see if I could catch a hog laying on the edge in a wallow. Usually we see pigs and Javi's all over when we are driving around but today was hot and they were not on the move... thats why I decided to check the next tank.

So after checking the feeder, i get my case out the truck and mount up the quiver. Knock an arrow and start walking towards the tank. Now it is very dry there so im walking on dirt/sand and its quiet. Im not really sneaking bc the bank is so high that if the hogs are in there they can't see me anyway and the sand is whisper quiet walking already!
After walking about 150 yards through the brush i finally make it to the bank. I connect my release to the D-loop, twist my hat even more crooked so it doesnt hit my string and I proceed to actually start sneeking over the bank....

I remember seeing a CAT facing away from me sitting on its back legs bent over getting a drink and then I remember it like 7 foot up in the air! The thing was over the dam in a matter of seconds and clear out of site...

I started shaking as i looked down to see there was no arrow on my bow I didnt remember drawing back, getting set, using kisser button, finding my anker point on my neck, looking through the peep, or picking a pin.... it was all a blur! Its a good thing I have a wrist strap bc i couldnt even grip my bow at this point... it was hanging by my wrist! "what had just happen" I thought. I walked over to where the cat was and there was blood... wasnt the best blood but there was blood! I walked in the direction that it went over the dam and there was more blood... but for the life of me I could make myself walk over the top of that dam! (yah whatever! Call me what you want but I couldnt see what was on the other side)

I started walking back to the truck and as I approched the truck my buddy opens the door and steps out of the truck, "dude, whats up" He had this funny look on his face like maybe he thought I had some funny look on my face So I tell him I just shot a CAT... "What the **** ever" he says. Im like dude I swear... "well lets go look then!" So he start walking towards the tank and i just lean against the truck...knees still shaking! About 30 yards out he turns to see if im behind him and stops. Then walks back to me and says, "come on"... im like you can go ahead, i'm gonna just stand here a minute! he looked at me real funny and said,"you really shot a cat?" I nodded my head and he said," then why the **** you gonna let me go by myself to look for a wounded *** CAT? I started dying laughing and actually started to feel normal again. we both opened a beer and started talking about how long we should "let it lay" prior to looking for it... I opened my wallet and said, I got 3 $20's... I bet I know 3 fella's that will go look for me

It took us about an hour to get back to camp where 3 fellas just happend to be chillin! They were more than happy to go find a CAT for $20 bucks each.... I told them I made a good shot it should not have went too far Equiped with 1-machete 1-shovel and a stick, the three fellas took off towards the tank....

My buddy says, "I cant believe you told them you made a good shot".... I took a long drink of my beer and said, "well I may have, I dont recall seeing where the arrow went in but statistically speaking.... it was probably a good shot We iced down some more drinks and headed towards the tank.... They had already found her when we got there so I was realieved noone was hurt. It was a little high but the RAGE 2 blade cut some lung and she didnt go far!

I thought this was a joke! I was even scared to scroll down with the thought that I would be let down by a vanilla ice picture holding a kitten or something!

But....holy crap bud! That is too cool for words! A big congrats to you....

I think I might have passed out, if not from shooting a cat like that, then from all the celebrating that night!

                  Congrats again man!

I didn't post on the other thread 'cause I didn't want to accused of "piling on"!

Glad you got the story posted up. Just curious, did you not remember shooting because of the adrenaline rush or the multiple cerveza's???

Congrats on the cat....quite an accomplishment with a bow!!!!
