I’m starting to get a pretty good list of bowkill hogs, but still hadn’t got one over 200 lbs. until Sunday night. I hunted the same feeder at the Swisher Ranch where I had killed a nice sow a few weeks ago.
Instead of a popup, I was on a 12 foot platform, 20 yards straight down wind from the feeder. I put some hand corn out, got on the platform with camera setup and was ready to roll by 6:30 PM. Chuck’s trailcam showed a nice boar coming in pretty consistently from 7:30 til dark, so that was the one I wanted to see.
Finally around 8:15 I see him headed my way across an opening. He circled around through the brush and stood looking at the feeder for a few minutes before coming in. Big pigs get that way for a reason, and he only ate a little before heading back into the sticks. This continued a couple of more times, with him never offering a shot unless I wanted to try and punch through shoulder or shield. I don’t know if he winded me or what, but he walked away from the golden carpet I had laid out for him and I thought I had lost my opportunity. I did get some video of him that I might try to add to this thread later.
Filming light faded, so I packed up the camera and was waiting until 9:00 before I headed back to meet Chuck. I was just about to climb down when I see a big dark pig move into the feeder. I could see his form pretty well, so got my pin light turned on, bow drawn, and tried put the 20 pin up front and low. The lightened nock flashed and he was off crashing through the woods and then dead silence. I climbed down and found the arrow only 10 feet from impact. It had passed through with a lot of blood, so felt good about the shot.

Chuck brought the 4 wheeler and we found him piled up 30 yards from the feeder. The 100g Muzzy hit him in just the right spot. He weighed 202 lbs.
