Redemption! Running a little late from work this evening, have to go top off a feeder before taking post at the East wind stand. I am fortunate that I hunt a couple of small property's in between work and the house. Both are bordered by Type II Public Hunting land which provides extra sanctuary, but also turns the place into a ghost town with the slightest bit of human activity. With a no recovery for week one and warm temps affecting the movement of the animals. The pressure to get on the board in week two was definitely building. The East wind is the oldest setup I have on these property's and the most productive. The hogs can't resist the daily portions of corn that fall from the green barrels. I set up shop, golden nuggets already scattered on the ground in hopes that the approaching weather system would have the swine moving early. Sure enough, just before dark a loan boar hog came seeking through the woods. It didn't take long before he moved into position. Little did he know a mer twenty yards down wind, perched in the Oak stood the Great White. He cautiously approached the setup and started to nibble on the offering. It didn't take long for porky to settle down and make like a Hoover. As he plunged his snout into the pile at the perfect quartering angle, the Great White loosed a razor sharp Muzzy tipped shaft through both lungs. His mad dash was short lived as he crashed into the timber, then nothing, dead silence. I settled into the seat for a quick prayer of thanks for the life taken and the nourishment provided. A quick recovery, field dressing and photos then off to the house to share the story with family and friends and maybe a little gloating on TBH..........
