On the through I was greated by a nice 10pt chasing a doe from Pasture 7 into Pasture 9. Needless to say this siteing got me even more ready to hit the thorny brush. After a brief meeting with Mike he assigned Pasture 11 to me. I did some talking with the other guys in camp and then headed out. The first evening I sat up scouting a long road headed back towards camp. The next morning I did the same after then I decided to abandone that road and move else where. I burned another evening and next morning scouting the new location and finally found the spots I would spend my next many days hunting. Here is a pic from the inside my set up since I forgot to get one of the outside.

After setting up the wind changed and did not allow me to hunt the stand I wanted so I had to go into make shift mode and throw together another location. I saw a few out of this one but they where youngsters and doe which I was not in the market for at the time. Finally on Monday morning the 3rd the wind switched back to the East and allowed me to hunt where originally wanted. I had several doe, one small 10, a little 8 show up at day break and where feeding up the road when SURPRISE a Big 8 in the 140's shows up in my #1 shooting lane. I opted to let him get to my #2 lane when drew, settled the pin and touched off the release. The shot felt good but, it seemed weird when I lost my arrow in flight and had no clue as to where it went. After searching for the arrow and bringing Mike and his dog Beau out I found the arrow never made it to the road and was 10' sort of it. I was sick!! That next evening I sat in the blind wondering what had happened when I found out. I had left too much of a stick in my shooting window.

After that the wind switched again and I hunted my blind with the hand thrown corn and needed a confidence builder so I shot a slickhead.

After 3 more hunts at the hand thrown corn the wind was back out of the East sending me back to the #1 stand. I decided the shoot the first 8 that walked out since Mike was wanting them gone so I did and this little fellar was the unlucky canidate.

All in all it was a great hunt and fun as always and I got to share camp with some new faces. It was a pleasure meeting yall. I also came up with a new pointer to the virgin FP hunters. Not only BRUSH,BRUSH and MORE BRUSH. Make sure your lanes are CLEAR.

I remember seeing that tree branch on your dash.....LOL
We talked to you when we got to the ranch at the gate. We were pulling the travel trailer. We hunted Thu-Sun and ended up with 2 doe. Was a good hunt and saw several deer. Sunday morning was pretty cool after the storm blew through and heard bucks grunting and chasing doe but could never get a decent shot. Had a buck snort wheeze about 40 yards behind me but he never came in. Almost made me jump out of my pit blind.
