From another site regarding duck hunting.. I wounder if steve Irwins wife is part of this bann. She made hunting cougars in Oregon a real pain. Now we have 900 plus cats... had to share this with yea folks.

CUT SNIP.. paste.. HOpe it sends.

This is an article I found on duck hunting in Australia, in the state of Queensland. This is for real--I have a search tool that sends me e-mail alerts of newspaper articles containing the words "duck hunting"--and this one came up yesterday. I shudder at the thought...

    HEADLINE: Duck hunting banned

    BODY:
IT'S game over for duck hunting in Queensland.
The State Government this week passed laws banning recreational duck and quail hunting.
Environment Minister Lindy Nelson-Carr told State Parliament the shooting of ducks and quail for sport was not an appropriate recreational activity in this day and age.
''While it may once have been acceptable, community attitudes have changed and combined with environmental concerns, it has reached a stage where it is time to make a permanent decision about this practice,'' she said.
''The new laws follow findings by the Animal Welfare Advisory Committee that the wounding rates in hunting these animals was unacceptably high.
''The committee found that up to 90 per cent of birds shot were not killed outright.''
Ms Nelson-Carr said the laws would not impact on the existing rights of landholders to protect their crops from damage should they need to, nor did it impact on the traditional hunting rights of indigenous Queenslanders.
''This bill also does not prevent recreational shooters from targeting feral animals such as pigs or rabbits which cause economic and environmental harm,'' she said.
Ms Nelson-Carr said community feedback indicated that many people in the community saw the practice as barbaric and outdated.

What is this world comeing to? Its funny how they think that only feral hogs and rabits cause envornmental damage. Just wait till there are too many ducks.

I bet there will be a sudden rash of landowners with crops getting damaged that need some external help eradicating those pesky ducks.

I love Australia, but this is just disgusting and ridiculous.

I have a mate in Aussie who lives in Brisbane. He says this is how alot of people think. About the only people who hunt are ranchers. They kill roo's to feed there dogs. The last time he was here he laughed when he saw a bag of dog food at my house.

Of course I laughed back when I put him in a stand and he pointed over at my feeder and said," what do ya call that thing". To most Aussie folks, red stag are "just deer" that are neat to look at. He told me the other day, there was 1000 acrs for sale there for about $180,000.00 us. Nego. He said it wasn't fit for anything as it had nothing on it but deer(red stag),wild hogs, roo's and the like!

            Give me a break!
