I picked up a bow in the 2003 season and I’ve managed to take only one doe since then. Mostly a lot of bad luck on my part but I may have messed up once or twice too. I had buck in bow range 2 weeks ago but he stayed just outside my shooting angle from my blind. Talk about being frustrated. I was almost ready to pick up my rifle again. After I regained my senses I decided that just wasn’t going to happen. I was sitting in my blind last night thinking it was going to be another uneventful sit when about 5:15 I see a buck working his way towards me, pretty quick he was getting after the corn on the ground. I had my binoculars on him but he just wouldn’t give me the look I wanted to make sure he was a legal buck and this went on for 10 minutes. He finally looked my direction and I made the decision that he was the one I have been waiting for. He finally gave me a good shot and I was able take my first buck. I sat there in my blind for a few minutes hardly able to believe what had just happened but I could clearly see him lying on the ground. I’m hooked on this bowhunting thing and I’m going to be back after them next weekend.
