I have had a really slow season so far. Our deer are full of acorns and moving very little. I have been hunting hard but had nothing to show for it. I finally got to draw the Switchback a few times this weekend.
I got to the lease on Friday and went out to hunt for axis deer. About an hour into the hunt, I had a melanistic (orange) raccoon fast walking through my shooting lane (no I wasn't drinking). I put up a fast instinct shot and hoped for the best. At dark, I got down and found my arrow covered in blood. There was a big blood trail to a huge oak tree with a hollowed out middle. I lost my trophy raccoon to a big tree.
I guess it did save me some money and cost Chance some business.
Saturday morning I had 8 hogs come in to ruin my deer hunt and the Thunderhead did its job. I cooked this 50 pounder for the Chew clan and it was delightful tablefare.

Sunday evening the doe that everyone hates showed up. After circling the setup three times and stomping her way in, I had enough and a month's worth of hunting frustration was driven home.
