Yesterday when I drove into the pasture, the deer were standing in my parking spot waiting so they could stand and blow and stomp while I got my gear out and got ready to walk to the stand!! Since this is the first time I've hunted this particular stand, how did they know? Do they have a spy at the house?
Didn't see a thing and after 2 hours, I had figured out the stand is uncomfortable due to the bulge in the trunk just at mid-back level which makes me sit leaning forward all the time.
I've not hunted this stand this year so far because it is in a creek bottom that is overgrown with ragweed due to all the early rains. Cows have knocked it down a bit and I've done the same, and they finally showed up on the camera last week.
I hunted again last night but moved to the other stand at this feeder--same one the does always busted me in last year. Same results. First deer I saw was a button buck that suddenly appeared 12' from me. Don't know where he came from, he was just "there" and walked on by, not even going into the feeder pen. About 30 minutes later, I hear the dreaded snort/blow of a doe behind me maybe 30-40 yds away in the brush! I think I'll move this stand just so I won't be tempted to use it again--always get busted!!!
