Well, its a trophy to me because it is my first deer taken with my bow. I know you guys probably get sick of seeing the "my first" threads and a doe is not as fun as a big buck, but I'm really proud. I sat many a times in my stand and have seen a lot of deer, but this was the best opportunity that I have had. She and another doe just kind of appeared around 7:45 this morning like ghosts. I never heard a sound. The wind was blowing and it had lightly rained a couple of times. I really didn't think that I was going to see anything today. I had put out some rice bran and she was putting her nose in it and ended up about 18 yards away quartering away. I let the arrow fly and I knew I hit her and had a pretty good shot. Entered back a little far and came out right before the shoulder on the opposite side. The Rage 2-blade (which I love now) did its work. The DXT at 60 lbs blew the arrow right through her and ended up lodged in the dirt when it exited. I'd say that is plenty of power. Huge blood trail all of 50 yards. What a great feeling. I feel so blessed that the Lord allowed me to harvest this beautiful animal. Looking forward to some backstrap! Can't wait to hunt the rut now and see if I can connect with a nice buck.
