After loosing our lease Steve (Cull) and I got back on a lease I hunted several years ago. Over the years I remained friends with several of the members on the lease as well as the rancher. We would share TC pics back and forth and discuss which bucks we felt needed another year or two etc;..
A couple of spots came open on the ranch and I knew the area and Steve and I took them. The ranch has been Very well managed since I have been gone and this particular area has been VERY well fed.
One of the spots that came open was one of my friends and he shared his last set of TC pic's with me. One buck in particular caught my interest. Not because he was exceptionally large but..because he was fully mature and literally a ghost.
Saturday evening I had some sheep move through my area and run off all of my deer with about 15 mins of shooting light left. One sheep in particular got seperated from the pack and baaaa'd his head off from 400 yards South of me, past the stand and continued till he was well past 400 yards North of me.
I had just sent a text to Steve telling him how much I really depise sheep, when I heard the unmistakable sound of a deer jumping into the pen.
Maybe I was rash in my judgement of the sheep.
What follows are the only trailcam pics of the buck since January and The Ghost last haunt.
