I hunt a lot of National Forest early in the year to keep from taking the doe tags on our MLD 3 lease out of my kids hands. Having said that, it makes for some tough early seasons at times, but I was blessed with a couple of doe kills this weekend on public land. Not too much of a story, but I took the first one Friday morning, and she came in to a buck grunt call believe it or not. She walked right under my tree and I shot her at 10 yards. She ran about 80 yards and piled up. The second was taken Sunday evening. I was hunting over white oak acorns, and had a young spike come in with this doe. She was eating beauty-berry leaves when the Muzzy found it's mark. This one was a 21 yard shot and she made it about 50 yards. Backstraps for the grill!
