I invited my best friend, Caleb Hall out to our ranch in Jarrell to hunt this past weekend. His family has always been so generous with their ranches, always allowing me to hunt them. Well, they ended up getting rid of their property, leaving Caleb without a place to hunt for the first season ever. I was sitting in a Gametamer in a big Live Oak and he was sitting in a tripod about 150 yds from me in an oak motte overlooking 3 big scrapes. I have pics of 3 different shooter bucks in this area and we were bound and determined to get one of them! Well, the big bucks didn't cooperate with us but this monster hog made the mistake of strolling through Caleb's setup right before dark. He was broadside @ 16 yards from him and Caleb slipped a Montec tipped arrow through both lungs, burrying it up to the fletching. He made a mad dash 40 yards and crashed. He broke our 300lb scale so we really aren't sure on the weight, but he was the biggest hog ever killed on our ranch.

Big Al,
Yes, the shield was one of the thickest I had seen. I'm not sure how he got the penetration that he did, but it all worked out great.
He didnt hardly have any top tusks, both of them were broke off very short. Must have been a fightin' dude!Last edited by Chad; 10-18-2010, 10:24 AM.

I shot a big boar last year that had surprisingly short tusks as well.
