I invited a few people to come take some does this weekend, but I guess saying Rsatt was coming, scared them off.
Ronnie christened the new barn blind on Friday night with a nice doe, but I'll let him elaborate if he wishes. Benoh nailed a good doe from the same location Saturday night. Sylvia came up to give me moral support and smoke us some ribs that evening, so the pressure was on the Hogboy to keep up.
Sunday morning, last hunt of the 3 day weekend and I turned to see a couple of young ones in my hand corn. I could see Mama in the brush and she slowly worked her way in. She looked big but I could see ribs. I had her 15 yards from the platform, but one of youngsters busted me drawing back and they scattered.
The doe trotted off a little and stood behind a tree for a couple of minutes. I had decided on my 30 yard pin high if she stepped out and I got drawn. One step, twostep, release, three step, four step, crack, and she was gone. Laser nock in the ground flashing, but I was sure I had hit bone, so I got down to check the arrow.
Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. I was shooting at the outside of my range, on a partially moving deer, but was able to get her on the ground. The arrow showed I hit her far back, but there was blood all over the place leading through the grass, and I found her piled up within 100 yards. The old girl had bad teeth, and a funny looking ribcage, but weighed 105 lbs.

Thanks to Ronnie,Ben,and Syl for keeping the Hogoby company this weekend.
