Well, been playin cat and mouse with this buck since the opener. I was not goin to go back until the 23rd of October because I dont like to just run down and hunt and turn around and come back. However, I left my Leupold rangefinder laying on the ground where I had a pop-up blind and forgot to pick it up when I moved it. So, I got off at the FD friday morning and decided I would just run to the lease to try and find it and why I was there, I would hunt Friday eve and Sat morning. Very hot when I arrived friday around 88 degrees when I headed to the blind at 430. Saw a few does, one small buck, about a 125" 8 pt, and several mule deer. All my pics from the camera of this buck were him getting there super early and being in and out until 830. So, I decided to get in the blind super early Sat morning to try and let everything calm down and not run any deer out. I slipped in without a flashlight and was set up by 530. At 620, I hear thump thump by the feeder and looked through my binos and could make out that it was him. Now the wait! At ten till 6 2 does came in and they either came the wrong way and smelled me or, picked me off looking through my binos and they started to stomp and do the ususal stuff does do to try and p*ss ya off lol. I though oh if you blow this deer out of here, I am for sure killing you! Finally they calmed down and at 710 it was light enough for me to see my pins. The buck quartered slightly at 30 yards and the does were behind a big bush so I came to full draw, settled my 30 yd pin behind his shoulder, and gently squeezed the trigger. THWACK! I could see blood pumping out his side and heard him splash in a small creek behind my set up. Hoyt Alphamax 35 and 2 blade Rage did the job. Yes I found my rangefinder and thank God I left it there LOL. Here is a picture. I have had 2 different measurments done and one was 157 4/8 and the other was 157 6/8 both green score gross.
