    Lost doe

Sat night I sat in my new Primos Vision. I had just set it up that morning, replacing a beaten down carpet blind. At 720pm three does came in. One presented herself at 16 yards and I let it fly. The tell tale thud, the red spot quickly increasing in size, the jump and bolt and the death wobble were all present.

I picked up the arrow and there was no blood but it stunk to high holy. So I hit her back a little bit. I went to the spot where she stood wobbling and saw a 4' long blood trail. I could see more blood spots following a trail so I backed out and went to get her in the morning. It was too dark to see anyway.

Sunday morning I went back and started tracking. I followed the trail into the brush about 30 yards when the trail disappeared. The last spot of blood was at least 4" across but there was no more to be found. I searched forever and covered every inch of ground for 150yd with no luck. The section was extra thick and tall with broom weeds and other stuff, so I figure I could have easily walked past her. I'm still bummed I didn't find her, but with all the blood lost, I'm considering this a confirmed kill.

The worst part about this story is this is the first deer I've ever shot with a bow. I've killed pigs and racoons and squirrels, but never a deer. So even though I have a kill, I've got no LDP's. Yet.

Here are a few pics of my setup and some of the blood.

Down. Could have doubled back and jumped 90 to the trail. Sorry for the loss, hang in there its only a matter of time before LDP's.

Tough to loose one, but with a rearward shot, the guts more than likely plugged the entrance and exit holes.

Don't take it too hard. I have lost a doe the previous 2 years onopening weekend. It really makes you feel bad but all you can do is give it your best try at finding her.
