Saturday morning I shot a doe a little higher than I wanted to. I had good blood on my arrow but the trail wasn’t great. I took my dog out and she immediately tried to take me up a hill in an area I didn’t think the deer was. I got frustrated with her since I don’t work her much and figured I would put her back in the car and keep looking myself. After another hour I figured I was running out of time for the meat to be good and decided to let her have another take at it. I let her check out the arrow and off she went up the hill again. I followed her just for entertainment not thinking we were heading in the right direction. She never slowed down and ran up the hill and right to the deer under a cedar tree! I was so proud of her!! That evening I set up the camera and smoked a doe right where I wanted the arrow to go. I pulled out and got the dog for practice. I let her check out the arrow and off she went! She took me off in another direction I didn’t think the deer had gone and this time I decided to trust her. She again took me right to the deer! I’m super proud of her and had a great time working on the never ending doe population on the ranch!
