Well all the work payed off. Last night after suffering the heat because I got in the stand way to early(3pm) I finally had a little buck come in. He was the only deer I saw yesterday until just before dark. I had decided that I would take him since I was really pumped about getting my first trad. kill. Well he hung around for about 30min. never giving me a shot. As he was leaving and I thought all hope was lost at getting my first I heard a couple steps right below me. As I turned to my left just a touch to see what had appeared I see the biggest buck in many years. For sure the biggest buck I'd ever had a chance to launch an arrow at. Just then he was on the move, walking fast away from me. A few more steps and there would be a tree in the way and little hope for another shot opportunity. I drew and gave a little grunt and he stops on a dime and turns broadside. Release, those bright orange feathers shined like a giant lumaknock then WACK!! His front legs gave way as if he had been hit with an 7 mag. stumbling to his feet he gave survival one last chance and he headed out of sight, all the while the sound of limbs breaking and rocks flying. Seconds later I could hear him crashing about not 40yds away. My first trad. kill and the best buck of my life. I'm hooked
