    Slick head down in Abliene

October 3, 2010 1 year with my wife, I was hunting as usual. Dont worry, she was in a stand on the other side of the lease. it was about 0930 and I had been watching three turkeys out under the feeder about 20 yrds away. I was all caught up with the turkeys when I caught movement to my right. I guess I should add that this is the first year my BIL has bow hunted so there were no bow stands set up, I found a piece of ply wood that he said has been there for about 5 years and dug in behind that. Anyways, as I look slowly to my right there are three does browsing about 5 feet from me. I was sure I was busted, but they just looked at me and continued browsing toward the feeder. I decided since there were a few eyes around me I would let them get to the feeder pen before I tried to draw back. Well they finally made it and as I drew back wouldn't you know it there was one still looking at me and she began stomping. The doe I had picked out was hard quartered away from me so I placed the pin on her off side shoulder. Shel looked at one of the other does who was stomping, and I squeezed off the shot. She was hit hard and took off. I texted my wife and BIL and we let her go for about 45 minutes. We found her about 30 yards away, no blood to follow but she tore the ground up stumbling. All though my wife and BIL didnt see anything that morning it was good day in all, I'm on the board and have some meat in the freezer.A BIG Thanks to my BIL and best friend for inviting me and allowing me to hunt. And to my wife thanks for a great year and many more to come, and thanks for loving to hunt as much as I do.
