    Double L Ranch Question

A buddy and myself are scheduled to be at the Double L Ranch starting on Sunday (Oct. 10th) for a three day hunt. My friend is wanting a Axis and I am going after a Fallow. I guess I am just getting anxious as we all do before a hunting excursion.

Does anyone have any information about any recent success, animal sightings and/or pics (LDP's or alive) of the place or animals that they would like to share.

It will be our first time at this particular ranch.

    Thanks

Do a search, on here, for "Double L". There's lots of good reports that will come up.

A few guys had a great trad hunt there, just last month. It'll come up in the search as well.

You'll see lots of animals. Check out the Gallery on their website for pics of what you can expect as far as size of animals is concerned. Pops has excellent trophy quality animals and plenty of them. Please give a hunt report when you get back. I'll be there in early Jan. 2011 for the 4th time. Great place and great people!

Thanks. We have checked everything we can check on as far as doing a search on here and checking out his website. I was just wondering if anyone was there lately.
Thanks again and we will let you know what happens.

there was some exotic hunters there about two weeks ago and they shoot 5 animals. Pops said the exotic are not coming to the road to feed too good due to all of the acorn. But Pop will do what it takes to put you on some animals. I live down the road from there and I will stop by Sunday. Good luck!

Axis in my avatar was killed there in May. Great people and a great ranch. Even when Pop says the hunting is slow, it is still better than most ranches. You will have a great hunt. He has some great axis and fallow on the place.

We are looking forward to the hunt and as you can see by my avatar, it's not my first Tx trip. Would like to meet you Neowmo and any other Texasbowhunters that would like to stop by the ranch while we are visiting your great state. We will post some pic's with a write up after the hunt.

I went with a friend of mine to get an Axis head that Pops found for him. They were not able to find it during there hunt so pops said he would wait for the buzzards and he found it. Anyways what I'm getting at is Pops was nice enough to take us along with him on his corn route and let me tell you he has some very very nice animals in there. We saw a couple of fallows that are way into the gold medal class. Lots of nice blackbucks, axis, sika, rams, and of course fallows. He also had alot of other exotics in there. Good Luck to you ..Lates!!

I also shot 2 pigs on our 2 day hunt.

You should not be disappointed. I have never hunted an exotic ranch that had as many quality animals as the Double L. The only thing that could hurt you on the Fallows is if they have started rutting. Fallow bucks fight real hard in the rut and they tend to get pretty busted up.

You should not need a hotel as there is a bunkhouse on the ranch. There is also a separate building with a full kitchen. There are all kinds of restaurant in Victoria which is only about 20 minutes away.

I was just wondering about a hotel and restaurant for Saturday night since we will be getting to Victoria the day before our scheduled hunt day which starts on Sunday.
