As the two made their way in, the first one continued all the way to the water while the second one held back in the brush. From looking through my binoculars, it appeared the second one was slightly bigger. I elected to just watch the first one as he calmly drank figuring the second one would follow the exact same path.

As he continued to drink, I had bow in hand as I expected him to finish at any second and exit on the same path his fellow traveler had done.
However, as it is in most cases of bow hunting, the animal more times than not, will do something you don't expect. Rather than finish drinking and calmly walk out on the same path his partner had done. He simply turned around and began a quick decent on the same trail he had just come in on.......never offering a shot!
