First elk -- taken at the Wildlife Ranch

I booked a hunt Christmas Eve at the Wildlife Ranch in Mason. I ended up getting an Addax with my rifle because I could only get within 60 yards. To make the Addax more challenging, we let them rest down a good bit and I ended up taking it at 367 yards with my rifle. I then set my sights on an elk and ended up getting a really good deal. I paid $1850 for a nice 5x6, and the pics don't do it justice. The taxidermist scored him at 320" so I am happy with that considering it is my first one. I'll post the pics of the addax in a separate thread since this is for bowhunting only. I took the elk at 30 yards, and the hunt was as hard as you wanted to make it. We ended up doing a stalk for about 3 hours before I finally took him. Overall the experience was a good one, just be prepared to be hounded about upgrading to another or an additional animal.

Congrats on a nice elk. Sucks to hear that they were trying to get you to shoot something else or bigger just so you would spend more money. That is not a good way to get repeat customers.
