    Whacked another slickhead

Well...stuck another slickhead Saturday afternoon. I didn't take any pics because we've all seen a doe. But here's the story:

I had 5 deer come in around 3:15. One of which was a really crazy one. She was just plain paranoid. Everything spooked her. I told myself to take her out. It is really hard to draw a bow when there are 10 eyeballs looking around. She finally gave me a shot, everything was great, arrow had good blood, etc., etc. I gave her some time, got down to fetch my arrow, and started trailing blood. I was sitting close to a cross fence in the pasture and I knew she jumped the fence, so I was trailing the blood up to the fence, got to where she jumped, and I looked over the fence to see where the blood headed. I looked up and 20 yards away she was laying there in a small thicket looking at me. So I backed up and sat down on the ground and waited...and waited...and waited. "She's still alive". So I got up, made my way around in front of her and got another arrow into her. That one finished her off. I have to say, that was a first for me. I have bowhunted for 20 years and that was a first. The first shot was not a bad shot, so why didn't she die? I don't know. I guess when she laid down it closed up the holes in her sides. Even though it was a pass thru. Who knows, but at least I recovered her and a cooler full of deer ready to be made into sausage.

Congratulations, does aren't that easy to kill and are so spooky that they can be very challenging.
