I keep waiting on Muy Grande to show up (I know, I know, quit shooting everything else...
) but Saturday evening was limited on sightings until this guy walked in. Haven't had any spikes on my trail cams and never saw one on my lease in person either.
It was getting late and Dave (Froggy) and I were going to Randy's (Planomustang) place for our 2nd annual Wise Co/TBH chili/Scotch get together where we were to tell hunting lies/stories and discuss politics (Obama gives us lots of fuel...).
Decided this 2 1/2 year old spike needed to go so at 18 yds I dropped the hammer. Hard quartering away at 18 yrds I put the pin behind the ribs and aimed for the exit behind opposite leg. When I located him (50 yds and no blood trail) I found out the exit hole was higher than the entrance. ???
Maybe it clipped a rib or bounced off of the breast bone?
All I found at first was 1 Blazer w/blood and then found 1/2 of my arrow w/BH about 10 yds before finding him. The other half of the arrow was still in him and found while field dressing.
