I rememberd to turn the scope on

Well it was Friday morning and I had been in the blind an hour before shooting time. The moon was still bright and I could see a doe and a yearling feeding on the corn that I had thrown out but it was still not legal shooting time. The moon went behind the trees and the two deer went on their way. The feeder finally went off and a couple of does came in and started feeding where the doe and yearling had been earlier. I saw a bigger bodied deer moving across the field toward the feed pen. As the deer got closer I could see antlers. He jumped in and started feeding. I look at him with the bino's and he looked pretty good to me. I had ranged him at 30 yards but he kept facing me or when he turned broadside the does where in front of him. I had already turned my scope on since I didn't want to make that mistake again. He finally went to the side of the feed pen and jumped over the fence. He watched the does for a while and then moved beside them feeding on the corn I had thrown out. He was at 20 yards and broadside when I drew back and placed the red dot on the crease of his shoulder and released the arrow. He spun around on the impact and I could see the fletchings barely sticking out of his side. He ran about 60 yards and his back legs started giving out. He piled up on the other side of a catcus patch and oak tree. I could not see him anymore but I waited a few minutes to see if there was any movement. I got out of the blind and glassed where I saw him go down. I spotted him laying down with his head sideways. I walked over to him with an arrow knocked but it was not needed. I had punched thru both lungs and the broadhead was sticking thru the far shoulder. He had some scars on his face from where he had been in fights and had on of his times broken off making him a 7 pointer instead of 8. I will be going back soon to see if I can find his Dad.
