On November 3rd I headed out for my first paid hunt referred by this site in hopes to take a trophy Fallow. The Double R Ranch is located just outside of Junction Texas and is run by TBH member and supporter Blake Revels. After spending the night in great accommodations Blake and I headed out for a spot and stalk hunt for Fallow. After daylight broke I'd say we spotted our first group of Fallow within the first 15 min. We tracked them from a distance for most of the morning until we eventually watched them bed down for the afternoon. We decided not to push them further and instead backed out until the afternoon. Later that afternoon we spotted them again and we knew they would be headed in the area of a well placed ground blind on the property. Sneaking into the blind we waited for a little more than an hour when the group began to make their move towards the blind. I literally had at least 7 Fallow to choose from. Choc's and spotted all great animals in their own right. There was no doubt from the minute I noticed this spotted fallow bed earlier that afternoon that this was the one to take if I had the chance. The deer came within 20 yards of the blind and turned away for a perfect quarter shot right through the heart. He ran exactly 32 yards and dropped. This was my largest trophy animal taken with a bow. He will easily score Gold Class at over 106 and is currently at the taxidermist. My thanks to Blake, his fiancé' Lindsey, and the entire staff at the Double R. What a fantastic hunt. Thanks for letting me share on this forum. I hope you enjoy the pictures. There is a direct link to the Double R on this site.
