I took this buck Saturday morning and thought I would share. I had seen this buck several times beginning in early September but never got a pic of him on a camera and had not been able to locate him for 3 weeks.
I got settled into my setup about 45 minutes before sun up and within 5 minutes began to hear deer moving around. I sat there and watched through a 5 inch square plexeglass (sp?) peep hole as this buck whipped a small mesquite tree less than 10 foot from my blind. After 10 minutes of this he left the area until right at good shooting light when he reappeared and stood and watched as other deer fed on the freshly thrown corn. After looking him over good and with the rut coming on I decided to take him and not take a chance on him breaking something off. I took a slight quartering away shot
that passed through low in the vitals and busted his opposite shoulder.
This deer is unique to my area, most of our bucks are similar to the buck in my avatar with farily wide spreads and usually being alittle short on main beams.
What did he score? After looking at deer for years I will admit I was low on my estimated score. I am curious what others come up with, let's hear your estimated gross score and I will post actual measurements later for comparision. (Since they are hard to see, one brow is 5 1/8 and the other is 5 0/8)
This was scheduled to be a live hunt but I have been unable to post a pic from my new Blackberry, when I attempt to attach a pic a message about a communication error pops up. Any help on that would be appreciated.
