A Bad Shot with Lucky Results

Well here is my first deer of the season. I hunt in Tyler county (East Texas). I killed her yesterday 10/29/09 at 6:40pm. She was broadside at 35 yard and I made a bad shot, but got lucky. You can tell from the pics that I hit her high and far back. The broadhead cut the front third of the tenderloins and there must be a major artery running through there as well, because the blood trail was very easy to follow the whole 35 yards that she ran before she was down and out. This is also my first deer with a Rage broadhead and all I can say about them is WOW! I don't know if you can tell in the pics, but that is a quarter next to the Rage hole. Now I am off to enjoy some fried backstrap.

You probably hit the dorsal aorta artery. It runs underneath the spine and turns into the femoral artery (in the hams), and the corated artery (in the neck)

Congrats, I have recently got some rage broadheads, havent had a chance to try them but judging by all the pics on here I should not have a problem with tracking.

Congrats, glad it all worked out for you. Sounds like you hit the femoral, they wont go far with that!

Gotta love the rage. They put the smack down on them.

Glad it worked out for you. I have a friend who really pulled a shot on an elk, hitting the femoral artery in the ham and getting a quick kill.

Yep, looks like you hit the main artery below the spine. Good deal about the rage and I am glad you got her. Congrats.
