My first Bow kill was jinx'd. lol

I went out this morning about 0630. As I approached the blind I walked up on 3 hogs. I was about 5 yards away from them and they didnt even notice me. They looked at me, and kept eating. I ran them off and got into the blind around 0645. Around 0715, two 8's came in, they were young and barely pushing 13", so I passed on them. One of the eights kept coming back, he was hard to pass up, just because he kept returning to me.

Now to the evening shoot. I got to the blind around 4pm. I didnt see anything until 1855. A small doe came walking out, then 2 very mature doe walked behind the younger one. The old doe were very skiddish, and the young one just stayed in a perfect shooting solution for me. So I drew back, and Pop... I knocked the crap out of her.

Now here is the Jinx part:

I just started archery in June this year. I have been reading everything I can on bow hunting. Last night I stumbled upon " To Tag or Not Tag"; needless to say it was a great thread. I learned alot from it on what is considered anterless and antlered.

    With that said....

MY FIRST KILL WAS A BUTTON BUCK..

He will taste great. I feel bad because he was a future world class buck. But hey, it was my first deer with a bow, and I was / still am so excited.

I learned my lesson I hope.

I tagged him with an anterless tag. Now since my anxiety of my first bow kill is over, I am waiting for mature deer. I was excited and wanted to get my first backstrap on a stick. It was an awesome day today. He is a trophy to me.

That is why I always check out a doe with my binoculars before I shoot. Use it as a learning experience and enjoy the venison. You put a great shot on him! Congrats!
