To start off I can't take much credit for this at all. My son has acted like he wanted to bowhunt, but never would buy a bow. He was waiting for me to buy a new one and get my old one. His best friend bought a new bow a couple of months ago and let him borrow his old one to see if he liked bowhunting before he takes the plunge and gets a new bow. They have been shooting every night for a couple of months. Shooting very well at targets.

Sat. morn he gets in one of my bow stands where we have been seeing pigs, figure let him start with a pig or two.
Get a text about 9:45 just as I get to my truck, conversation goes like this.
pops got my first bow kill!!
me: good deal congrats, what was it?
wt doe
ME: good shot? how far did it go?
I think it was good, heard it crashing think it is down
ME: need me to come and help ( I was 30 min away on other side of lease)
if you want, I am ok
Me: you sure
If you want I am kinda freaking out right now
Me: on my way.
25 min later I get to him and he is stoked up still excited. We go to stand and look for blood, looks like a good shot to me, easy trailing. 40-45 yds down. Perfect shot double lung.. It was just like the first time he shot a deer with his rifle.

After he cleaned it I made him relive the first kill tradition..
What a great weekend. Makes you get a new appreciation of hunting again.
