    Instinctive shooting from a compound?

Does anyone shoot instinctive out of their compound bow? I was contemplating this for night-time hog hunting. I do have a recurve that I am comfortable and pretty accurate shooting with but I just want some tips or pointers from anyone with experience. Thank you.

I shot fingers and instinctive for the first 12 years I hunted with a compound. Killed quite a few critters that way.

I have a bow rigged up this way. I like to tinker around with it. I have not hunted this way but I may give it a try sometime. I shoot a High Country Powerforce, I like it because it has a short sight window and it seems easier to shoot insinct with it.

"Uncle Ted" shoots his compounds this way... I started out that way myself, but just like recurve shooting, if you don't dedicate yourself to practice, you won't get very proficient with it. That's why I switched back to a wheelie bow so I could get all the sight aids and reduce practice time/commitment... so far, it has worked well. I do enjoy shooting my recurves more though.

Ditto for me. I also got tired of shooting next to my brother when he was driving tacks at 25 yards and I could only manage 4 -5 inch groups. I do still shoot my old compound instinctively at the fishes.

Can't hit the broad side of a barn that way.

It would be easier to buy a laser with switch from cheaperthandirt.com to put on your bow and sight it in at 20 yards with your pins.

I shot for years shooting fingers and instintive.....All I can tell you is practice......when I was shooting a compound that way it is the same as shooting my recurve that way, look down as much of the shaft of the arrow as possible...when I'm in the "groove" I can see a line coming from the arrow to the spot on the target I am aiming at...takes allot of shooting to get used to it....

I've only shot compounds bowfishing by sight.

Uncle Ted does all kinds of stuff, but this week's show that was on last night, (new season) he was shooting instinctive... Uncle Ted had dang near cut his leg off a couple times with a chain saw too, and he's really into machine guns now, so there ain't no telling what you'll see on his shows, but he does shoot instinctively pretty well, and you don't do that unless you practice... I speak that from experience. That's why I have a sight on my wheelie bow (but no peep sight)...
