Those who have hunted in Africa

Form 4457 is the US customs form that you have them issue to you before you take firearms or other significant items out of the country. Among other things, I think it proves you took it with you so you can bring it back without paying taxes on it.

What else do you get one filled out on? Camera? Bino's? What about your bow?

Don't need any forms for bino's, cameras, or bows and arrows....

4457 can and does apply to anything of value. It is simply evidence you possessed the item when you left the USA, and did not obtain it while abroad, thus being subject to customs limits/duties.

For those travelling to Africa (RSA is particular), it is commonly used as a method to prove ownership of the firearm.

When I went, I put everything with a serial number down. Better safe than sorry. I also used a customs clearing company to process paperwork and permits. They told me what to put down and it was the best money spent on the whole trip.
