I have narrowed it down to two drop aways. The Ripcord and the Ultra-Rest. Which one would you choose and why? Pros and cons of each. I like the way they lock in the up position which is why these are the two I have come down to.

I've not seen the advantage of the "lock up". Plus, I don't like the big arms that hold the arrow in place. One reason for using a drop away is to avoid clearance problems. Those arms can cause a problem The only one I've seen had vane marks on the arms. I've looked at them, but I'll stay with the Drop Zone.

iv got the ripcord... i really like this rest because its got that top to it so the arrows don't fall out when holding the bow in acward agles! and like you have said i REALLY like the "lock up" ability! i dont know much about the ultra rest but i would go with the ripcord. hasnt done me wrong!!

Counting Judy's bow we have 4 QAD Ultras in the house, so obviously that is my vote. They are extremely easy to tune and I have never had an issue with any of them. I have not owned a ripcord so can not compare the two, but I love my QAD's and recommend them to anyone that likes the benefits of a dropaway and a containment rest. Good luck.

I keep my sight window covered with camo polarfleece. When I have my bow in my lap, the arrow sits on the polar fleece. When I pick it up, the arrow slides down to the shelf and is picked up when I draw. It goes right to where it's supposed to be as the Drop Zone rises, ready to shoot. I'm with Rattler. I can see no benefit to the other rests and wouldn't take my DZ off for anything I've seen.

I have had both the ripcord and now shooting the QAD. Between the two I would recommend the Qad. The ripcord when I bought it was very good but as it got older it went from being quiet to making noise. The other thing on the ripcord the cord will wear out going into the main body of the rest and can be replace but doing so is not easy and doesn't fall away right sometimes with a different cord on it. I haven't had the QAD long enough to tell of any problems with it but as of now seems very rock solid.

I just put a ripcord on my new bow and I love it. I was shooting this weekend and my d-loop started pinching the nocks. When drawing with the rest down, the arrows would not draw straight back. With the ripcord, I just locked the rest up and drew. I've since fixed the problem on the loop but having the ability to lock the rest up when drawing seems like a pretty big feature for me, especially if I have this same type problem in the field or at a 3-D shoot.
I haven't tried the QAD rest and can only compare the ripcord which is a week old to my NAP quicktune 2000, 4000 and the PSE dropaway. Just my .02.
