    check your release loop

my release loop looked a little fuzzy but not too bad. or so i thought. i made it to arrow #6 and "smack" the knurled thumb trigger sanded my chin and my knuckles gave my bottom lip a little swelling. i havent done this since messing with a backtention target release 5-6 years ago.

its bright blaze orange in case i drop the release while walking, should be easier to find. and just in case i need to make a signal noise without shooting the pistol

Do you mean your string loop broke?

Good advise, just be glad that it didn't cause you to chip a tooth.

I hit myself in the nose when I was drawing back with my finger on the release. I saw stars. My finger is no longer on the release!

I've had that happen a couple of times. The first time I was using material that just wasn't strong enough. I ended up giving myself a fat lip.

The second time the material had frazzled and ended up busting me in the nose.

I'm very careful about checking loops now.

Now check the jaws of your release for small burrs and sharp edges, because that is most likely the cause of the fraying..

We were running late for a 3d shoot one day and my ol man velcroed his release on but didnt run it through the loop first. He drawed back and bam, split his bottom lip. Its was almost as funny as when he forgot his ramrod in the barrel of his muzzleloader and shot it, causing major recoil and splitting him between the eyes!!
