did you chrono it when you first got it?
are you putting the arrow where you want?
when's the last time you've had the strings made over 5 years is a good time span if your running the same strings.
what accessories do you have on your strings and cabels?
im not a fan of speed but these are things to consider.

the 2004 BT VFT had an IBO of @ 303 fps +/- a few fps

here are the numbers I crunched .....

your epic 340 arrows (10.2 gpi) probably weigh close to 425 grs w/ fieldpt. and fletched

not sure what's on your string (peep, catwhiskers, loop, etc...) as I guestimated 30 grs of stuff

when you run the numbers :

            IBO : 303 fps
            Arrow Weigth (grains): 425 grs
            Draw Length (inches): 28"
            Draw Weight: 74 #
Weight (grains) Added to String (peep, loop, etc): 30 grs

it comes out to 259.5 fps ; your 254 fps is close as the bowshop may have a slow chrono ???

my suggestion ; find an arrow that weighs around 8.3 - 8.5 gpi

then go with a 100 gr fieldpoint

arrow will then weigh around 382 grs... , speed will increase to 272.5 fps

            hope this helps brother

Lighter arrows = faster arrows, but bow noise will increase as arrow weight decreases due to the laws of physics.

Good luck finding the "perfect" arrow.

A fast miss is still a miss. If you shoot accurate and broadheads fly good, going with a lighter arrow may effect your performance. The liberty is not a speed bow but it is smooth and quiet. Good luck.

                    I have a 82nd shooting a 390gr arrow at 311fps 71lbs , my Admiral at 73lbs is 294fps with the same arrow.

My Diamond Marquis with a 410gr arrow at 61.5lbs is shooting 268fps, its the slowest but its the quietest and most accurate with the best draw. The 82nd and Admiral just hang in the case the Marquis is used everyday. The Marquis with a 390gr arrow does 273fps.

If your good with your bow at your speeds its enough for anything you come across in North America.

You could always buy a reezen, speed problem solved.

He could but he may lose some fillings with all that vibration.
