    Shipping a Bow???

When shipping with UPS does your bow have to be boxed up in a plain brown box, or can it be shipped in a hard case without a box? I was hoping to ship it in a SKB case, but not sure if they will allow it.

    Thanks,

    Brandon

If you can get a box its a good idea. If they don't know whats in it it may be less likely to take a walk.

Good point, however I feel more comfortable with my now being in a good hard case than a cardboard box. I've shipped plenty of mows in the past, but they all were stripped down while this one will be rigged out and needs to be spot on when it arrives at it's destination.

Put the SKB case in a cardboard box.... that way UPS will be liable for the content in the cardboard box...... I have had Airlines rip off the locks on my SKB case.....

Good idea...I think I may go that route. Now I just have to find a box for my long double SKB case.

Do not ship a bow UPS. I have a friend who bought/sold recurves and had more bows stolen when shipped UPS than he wanted to remember. I 'should' be the owner of a classic Bear 48" black beauty (Kodiak Magnum) that I've always wanted, Al find one really cheap and was going to sell it to me for the price he paid as a surprise, and the dang box arrived in SJ empty- after he told the shipper to NOT ship UPS.

You can ship in a cardboard box from an archery shop but you'll have to remove the sight to have it fit. I have shipped my compound multiple time to Texas to hunt via Federal Express Ground, it takes 4 days (not counting the day you drop it off, not counting Sat/Sun) and it's always gotten where I shipped it. I used my old Docosil case, and zip tied the 4 locks closed and covered them with duct tape (ugly but effective, there's no points for pretty in hunting gear). I would wrap my camo T shirts around the sight and rest and stuff more into the middle of the case, so give it some more structural strength if some gorilla stepped on it. The SKBs are definately a better case than my old Docosil.

                That's my experience and advise.

I just sold and shipped my Outback to the buyer in Florida, got a factory bow box from Cabelas and shipped it USPS Priority Mail. The guy had it in two days and said there wasnt a ding on the box or anything. Of course I wrapped everything in newspaper to help protect it along with styrofoam spacers to keep it "floating" in the box.

You can also get a mirror box at Uhaul for $4.50. It will hold a soft case and wrapping to protect it. Always insure it just in case it goes missing.
