Last chance.....Does anyone in the DFW area have a copy of "The Perfect Shot: Mini Edition for Africa" that I can borrow for a few weeks....I've called several book stores and it's no where to be found in DFW. I did print out a few charts I found on line, but it seems this book is the bomb for african plains game.

Not to hijack your thread...butI really the the chart you posted. A few evenings ago I was watching one of the infomercials on the Outdoor Channel. You know the ones with all of the product selling and a bit of hunting scattered in for good measure. Well, a guy hit a Warthog in what I thought was a good lung shot and the thing dropped in it's tracks. It looked and acted just like it was spined with the arrow. Based on the chart you posted, their spine runs much lower than I thought and it very well could have been a spine shot. Interesting. Thanks.

Cabelas and others sell a book by Kevin Robertson ... The Perfect Shot (see link)
KR also had a DVD that is very educational and worth buying !!!
with African game , you need to aim for the shoulder since the lungs are more "forward" than NA speciesOriginally posted by Humper View Post"The Perfect Shot: Mini Edition for Africa" that I can borrow for a few weeks....I've called several book stores and it's no where to be found in DFW. If you don't get the book your PH will get you tuned in but it is definitely worth having!

when we were over there 2 weeks a guy hunting with us shot a gemsbok right on the shoulder and the arrow didn't get 3 inches of penetration. We all concluded it must have hit the shoulder blade bone but according to your chart the bone is way higher than his shot ??? I would suugest a slight forward crease shot but not as far back as our WT.

Debbie and I finished packing last night. (even added a few Kristoff cigars in the luggage for celebration smokes) I was going to shoot a few arrows Wednesday evening but it started raining..**** the luck! Anyway I'll put a few into the target tonight before it goes into its case. Thanks for all the well wishes and PM's folks. Africa here I come!
