    Please, TBH braintrust help!!!

I am thinking of buying a '91 ford pickup... the guy that has it said the it ran about a month ago, but he hasn't driven it in a while. The problem he said, was that the fuel pump wasn't getting power to it. My question is how big of a problem is this to fix? The truck is pretty cheap, and I really need something to drive, but I don't have just a ton of money to spend fixing the problem... I figure the TBH braintrust can offer a little help! thanks guys

      K,

if i were in your shoes, i would do an i-net search (google) for " 1991 Ford F150 fuel pump "

get an idea on how much the part costs, and if they have a DIY section anywhere

i'm betting this may set you back from $50 to $300 depending if that is the actual problem .

if that don't work..... i'll send you a big plate of cajun food via TBH xpress

Does he know for sure it's not getting power or could it be the pump has gone bad.

If its only power to the fuel pump Id first check fuses. I would bring two long pieces of wire and alligator clips and jump 12VDC directly to the pump as close as you can to the pump. If the motor starts running crank the truck up. If pump turns and it dont start or the pump doesnt turn have the guy knock the cost of a new fuel pump or whatever you think is worth your trouble to fix it. Never hurts to ask!

I would have to ask him how he knows that it is not getting power. Not getting power to a fuel pump could be a bigger issue than just replacing the fuel pump.
