Hopefully I let him go far enough away that he will not be a problem....the kids had a ball with him before I let him go...

They used to get me all the time when my grandma had chickens. We would have to stand on a bucket to look in the nests on the barn wall, and then the snake would be staring at you when you peek over the side.

He found those eggs once, I'm betting he will be back.

I vote we get our terminology correct. Harmless my left foot not only will that snake cause you to bounce off the closest wall of the henhouse when you find him, those particular snakes, (I grew up calling them bullsnakes) are about the most ill tempered creature around. Non-toxic I can live with harmless NOT, I've caught rattlesnakes that were 10 to less aggressive than bullsnakes, red racers (coachwhip) and black racers.

Really nice pictures. I like the first one especially. I apparently have a Texas Rat Snake living in my shrub bed right now. I haven't seen it myself, but Mindy has taken pictures of it a couple of times.
