How to water along with feed?

Yesterday while setting up my site, the area manager mentioned that even moreso than feed - water was needed. Hadn't really thought much about it until yesterday, but I think he is VERY right. With the drought we've had this year around San Antonio, and the lack of a good natural water source close to my site, I need to be watering them as well.

This is my first year hunting TX, and the first time I get to use a feeder in-season (my only prior use of one was just prior to season, and had to be removed during season).

I've got a good feeder, but don't know where to start for water, as nobody I've seen sells watering systems. Guess I've got to make one.

Best ideas for making a water station, and where to get materials?

    All the best,
    Glenn

If you do a search in the DIY section, there a few in there. Good luck....

Some of the other fellers here have made some rather nice self watering stations, like Brad has referenced do some digging in the DIY section and I bet you'll find one..

Man I sure wished I lived closer to keep them filled. I think that would provide big benefits to keeping better and more deer around my areas .....especially in a place where water is all in well troughs anyway.

          Set up a water shed.

Build you a rack that hold up some tin at an angle....kinda like a roof.....that drains into some type of gutter, which drains into a 110+ gallon water trough.

          Then do a rain dance!

We're paratroopers, Lieutenant. We're supposed to be surrounded......

x2...we did this all over the mule deer lease we had.Found out if you put 30-40 gal in the water catching trough to start with it will catch enough to last a long long time.we actually had the tin drain-- to an enclosed barrel--- to a drinking station, under a shade, to minimize evaporation.

Is that you Glenn MA7-21? I use a 55 gallon barrel with a spicket, hose and a water pan. Also am working on another barrel linked in with a funnel to catch any of the rain that might fall. Humping 5 gallon cans of water can be a challenge.

All you need is a 250gallon tote with the cage around it, float valve for a stock tank, water hose or pvc and a small trough and you \are in business. PM me for pics of some of my setups...

It's me Michael. I didn't realize you were on here too. You got me thinking yesterday, and I really want to get moving on this project so I can have a good place for them to drink as well. I appreciate all the advice.

Do you know anyplace locally that I can get a 55 gallon drum for this project?

                  All the best,
                  Glenn

Those are some good ideas for watering systems when you don't have access to running water. Thanks!
