I did not get my bow until last Christmas so I killed this deer with my 30-06 last november, but here is the story anyway. My family owns 134 acres in Dennis, Parker County. My brother in law (Troy), my son (Bryson), and I go on a Sunday afternoon. My son and I do not see anything, but Troy comes back to the truck and says he may have messed up by letting a deer pass. He films it for about 3 minutes. It is on You Tube under Big Daddy Buck. Anyway fast forward to the next Friday night. I take off from work and head out to the land to meet my dad and troy for an afternoon hunt. I get there and the wind is blowing about 40 mph. My dad and I head to the bottom field to get in our blinds and Troy stays in the top field. Dad and I are working our way down to the blinds and out pops Big Daddy with a lady friend. He is gone and over the fence before either of us can get a shot off. Well we go to our stands anyway and wait. The wind blows harder and I did not see anything for the first three hours. I have about 30 minutes of shooting light left when things get interesting. First I have 18 turkeys walk literally 3 yards from my stand. One was a Tom that we had been chasing the spring before with a 12 to 13 inch beard. I was fixing to put him down when I saw a doe pop out about 85 yards from my stand. I keep watching her when the big 8 point jumps the fence. I ease over and get ready for the shot, as I getting ready to pull the trigger one of the blind windows falls over on my leg and I miss the buck. I shoot right over the top of him. I lose sight of him through the scope and I got really mad in a hurry. I just happened to see movement to my left out of the stand and standing 10 yards from the blind is the Big 8 pointer. He ran right towards the blind, I guess he really didn't know where the shot came from. This time I put him down with a perfect shot. Any way here he is from the Taxidermist. He is the 2nd biggest deer taken off our place. He scored 119 BC. They aged him at 4 to 4 1/2 years old. I know he is a little young, but they don't last long around our place.
