    $4 corn update.....

Hey guys I havent really logged on here in a long time. I've gotten some Pms since last time I was on. I'll get around to answering them soon, but please dont think I was avoiding you. I didnt even realize that the original thread had been brought back up until somebody told me several days ago.

Anyway back a few months ago I asked if there would be any interest in people buying bagged corn for $4-$5 per 50# bag. I had alot of interest and several people wanted hundreds of bags. But cutting to the chase, I'm not going to have any corn to sell to anybody. Back when I originally made the "$4 corn post" the crops had recently been planted and most of the stuff looked really good. Theres never been a year when there wasent alteast something to harvest come June and July. Back when I originally made the post, I had no idea that we wouldnt receive a drop of significant rain fall. Of the couple thousand acres of corn that got planted, not a single stalk was harvested. Some of the corn didnt even come up and the stuff that did, was all recently plowed because it would have cost more to harvest than what we figured it would make. I would have told everbody about this sooner, but it wasent until fairly recently that they decided to plow it all up. I was still hoping that some would be harvested, but that didnt happen.

I really am sorry that I got everybodies hopes up, and for all those that where interested (especially those planning on receiving thousands of pounds of corn) I hope you accept my apologies. This year was just a "freak year" and I had no idea that we wouldnt have a corn crop this year, that simply has never happened. But with all of that said, there is always next year and I know they will be at it again hoping that next time it might actually rain.

Once again I'm sorry for not being able to hold up on my end, but every once in while something happens that you simply can not control.

I drive by a few corn crops from Victoria to Three Rivers and there isn't a single crop that survived that I can see.

Same story up here in NE Texas. Talked to a farmer last week and he said the ears didn't put on any corn. Like you he is plowing up 1500 acres.

The corn around Bosque co. and Waco area is not up to par as well. We got some rain. Not near enough, and not at the critical time!

My cousin and uncle farm some land in Mart. I have not had a chance to talk to them about their crop this year.

Jeff and Donald Baize. They are from Crawford, but have some land they farm over in Mart.
