    Finally got my bow back!!!!

Well, it's been about 1 month since I blew up my Iron Mace. For those of yall who missed it, here's the link with pics:http://discussions.texasbowhunter.co...ad.php?t=91126

The reason it took so long was that HCA sent me the wrong cam, so I ended up buying one from another archery sight for $25. That saved me $75! I got new Nebra strings and cables. I was kinda disappointed cuz, I've always shot Winner's Choice. But if it's good enough for Matthews, it's good enough for me!

SO I finally get to shoot it at Smithfields (Stan and Rhonda are awesome folks, bte!). I wanted to chrono my "over-hauled" bow with two types of arrows. My "heavy arrows" are the Rebel Hunter Weight-forward weighing in at around 500 grains finished arrow. My "light" arrows are around 440 grains finished.

We set up the chrono and I take my first shot with the light arrow. 260-ish fps. Heavy arrow, 240-ish fps!

Now everyone at the range was watching me shoot. They are heard how "fast" the Iron Mace was. Needless to say, I was quite embarrassed.

I shot again with the same results. I turned and asked Stan, "Man, is this thing right? I should be faster than that!" He said it was and I was dumbfounded. Then, some guy shooting at the range said, "Brother, your bow is backed all the way out!"

Whewww....What a relief! I got Stan to crank her up (after he said I wouldn't be able to pull her back. Yeah right...) and then shot.

My "light" arrows where hitting over 300 fps and my heavies where 280'ish. And that's at 80% letoff.

I must say that she is a bit stiff, but she'll loossen up after a few shots. Still, no hand shock. I am a very, very happy man!

Afterall, I bought her for speed and I'm getting it!

Since it blew up on you did it make you nervous to shoot it the first time?

Might want to check the chrono, I shoot 70lbs at a 29 inch draw and my Mace shoots a 412 grain arrow 293fps. That's fine tuned and with Vapor Trail Strings.

Nope. I think it's dead on. It can't be more than 5 fps off. Even still, it's still slinging'em. I think my bow is shooting a little faster is, like I said, a little tight. Might lose a little if the string stretches.

I've gotten into the habit of reaching forward with my release hand and feeling for the nock on the string before I pull back. Something an old timer told me decades ago.
