My Father in Law has had MS for the past 14 years so he already had a problem with walking, but he could still get around and drive. Well about 2 1/2 mos. ago he started having bad stomach pain and thought it was acid reflux or something to that effect. He was wrong. After a month of pain he finally went to the ER at Hermann in downtown houston and they found out he had colitis. Ischemic colitis which is a very bad infection of the colon. They also found out he had conjestive heart failure, the starting of liver disease, and a big clot in his lungs. He has been in the hospital for a month and a half in ICU and when they finally got him stable he was put in a skilled nursing facility doing rehab. We thought everything was looking up, but on saturday he started feeling really bad and his blood pressure was dropping. After the visit he was rushed back to the ER in Katy with a BP of 48/26 which is pretty close to dying. They did another blood transfusion and he had another bad infection in his colon. They watched him over night hoping his colon would not perforate otherwise he would bleed out and die. He made it through the night and went into surgery at 6 pm tonight to remove his colon. The only drwback is that he has a very good chance of dying during surgery because of the heart condition and the liver problems the doctor said. Your prayers are needed. He is a good man at 61 years of age he has his first two grand daughters from last year and earlier this year. Sorry about the rant but it is just frustrating that it always seems to happen to good people.
Thanks in advance. I will post an update as soon as we hear something.
