Holy shnikeys. Nice deer. I think I would be too busy scooping the poop form my undies to take a shot at that one.

Great buck from your favorite spot.
My story begins with asking a couple guys from work to go with me to New Mexico on a mule deer hunt. Now this hunt was going to be a pack in hunt. I explained to them that we would be hiking 6 miles to the top of this mountain so pack light. I gave them a list of things that I knew from three previous trips they would need. By the time one of the guys got his pack filled to the top with much more stuff than he needed it weighed in somewhere around 100 lbs. I told him he would never use half that stuff and to get rid of most of it. and I knew he would never get up there with a pack weighing that much. He insisted that he brought it so he was going to carry it. Neither of them had ever hunted out side of Tx. And this guy had only hunted a few times in his life. Well we started up the trail, and made it about 300 yards before he had to stop and rest. Andthat was the flattest part of the hike. Needless to say, we stopped every 50 yards for a rest because of him. The trip up took twice as long as it ever had. When we finally got to the top I showed them around before we went to bed. I realised I had forgotten an alarm clock and told the other guys to wake us up 1 hour before light. When they woke me up it was 30 min after light. I was peeved!!! I think they might have been a little scared to walk around in the dark. Well I had picked a spot i wanted to hunt opening morning. While walking the heavy pack guy to an area I thought he might do some good he suddenly decides he wantes to hunt the area I had picked. Peeved again!!! Well I am too nice and let him hunt this draw. After he settled on a spot to sit I started to walk away. I had not gotten 100 yards away when he shot. He tells me he shot at a really big boy but missed. PEEVED some more!!!. Well later that day I decided to hunt pretty close to camp because it was really windy. I settled in on a draw between camp and the draw the guy had shot in earlier. Around a hour before dark some does came outand then my best buck ever. So although this trip was filled with newbies getting me out of my routine's God must have thought I deserved a little blessing just for putting up with these guy's

Man that HAD to be frustrating. I can sympathize with you. I used to guide pack-in camping trips so I have dealt w/ unprepared folks.

Kept your cool and smoked a bruiser though. That's awesome. NICE muley.

sure doesn't sound good when you say it that way........but it is factually correct.

It was tough dealing with those guy's. I try and go out of my way to show as many people as i can a diffrent kind of hunting. But when they don't even consider my advise it makes me want to just go by myself which I have done several times and enjoyed it.

Nothing wrong with that. I've done that too. I guess hunting can be like life.....great except for the idiots.
