    Please explain Oklahoma's Regs...

Quick question for the Oklahoma experts.

Here are the posted 2009-2010 dates:

    ARCHERY: Oct. 1 - 2009-Jan. 15, 2010
MUZZLELOADING: Oct. 24 - Nov. 1, 2009 (Antlerless days vary by zone)
GUN: Nov. 21 - Dec. 6, 2009 (Antlerless days vary by zone)
YOUTH DEER GUN: Oct. 16-18, 20098; statewide
HOLIDAY DEER GUN SEASON: Dec. 18-20 and Dec. 25-27 (Open only in certain zones).

So if I ONLY buy an archery tag when can I legally hunt? Feel free to go into as much detail as possible. I just am confusing myself the more I read the Oklahoma website...

I assume you are asking when can you hunt deer. That would be from Oct 1 until Dec. 31st. Your license and tag goes out at the beginning of each year in Oklahoma. To hunt the 15 days in Jan. you would have to buy another archery tag for the 2010 season. That could be purchased Jan. 1 and it would be good until Dec. 31 2010 if you did not harvest a deer those 15 days.

    Hope that helps.

You can bow hunt from Oct. 1 - Jan 15 w/ an archery deer tag.

      but...

If you bow hunt in a firearm season you must have a firearm deer tag.

Nonresidents may purchase either a $206 deer license (licenses are season-specific and allow the harvest of one (1) deer) or a $256 season-specific combination deer license that allows them to harvest one (1) antlered and one (1) antlerless deer. These licenses are valid on both public and private lands. Separate licenses exist for archery, muzzleloader and gun seasons.

If a nonresident purchases one (1) of these $256 season-specific combination licenses, they may also purchase an additional antlerless only deer license for $51. This license is only valid for the season for which it was purchased and it is valid only on private lands not managed by the Department. For example, if a hunter purchases a $256 primitive firearms combination deer license, he or she is eligible to purchase an additional antlerless primitive firearms deer license for $51.

Licenses are not transferable between seasons and none are valid during the holiday antlerless deer gun season, which requires a $206 nonresident holiday antlerless deer gun license.

Looks like I was wrong. The archery license is season specific so if archery season runs to the 15th of Jan. then you have till then. I have a lifetime license so its been a long time since I've had to buy one.
