Close Call with a funnel cloud this evening

My wife and I are thanking God tonight for watching over us.

We decided to head out to Hearne to pick up some of our stuff from a friends house after I got off work tonight.

When we were leaving it was only sprinkling at our house. We got less than two miles from our house and the hail just started pelting the truck. We pulled under the overpass at Southwest Parkway and Highway 6 to wait it out some so our glass didn't get broken from the hail.

Well it lightened up so we decided to leave the underpass and then it picked up again so we continued towards Hearne. Before we could even make it to University Dr two exits up the hail started pounding us again so we pulled over under the University Dr underpass.

All of the sudden the winds kicked up real strong from the South blowing North which I knew wasn't right as the storm was headed south. Looked behind the truck and saw the debri and dust swirling about 100 yards behind us.

Had a calm feeling when I saw it though because God must have been telling me inside it would be ok. Didn't freak out until after it had passed.

It will be an experience I soon won't forget.

Everyone else make it through the weather tonight ok?

Glad to see you made it through. I had a similar experience at A&M in the early '90s. We were playing the campus course and the weather blew in and saw a twister. Looked alot closer than it was but scary.

My daughter and a couple of girls were coming home from College Station this evening after Cheerleading practice and she said they saw a funnel cloud in the distance. The mom driving played it off but told me later it kinda spooked her even though it was a ways away. Glad yall made it through ok!

It was definately a scary moment but neat at the same time as well. I had seen a tornado before but at a much greater distance.

It was scary and interesting and exciting all at the same time. I'm just glad no injuries resulted from it for anybody.

Glad to hear that yall made it out okay! Its not fun! I sat through one a few years back and it was scary! It hailed on me for over 30min non stop! The wind was blowing so bad that the hail was coming in straight at me like a million pitchers were throwing fast balls at me! It ended up breaking my windshield and had hail damage over my entire truck! There were two tornadoes to touch down within an hour on me while under the overpass! Truly Scary, and don't want to endure it again! Glad everything is okay though!

I didn't see any damage from the tornado but there are quite a few without power and I'm sure there will be quite a few dinged up roofs and vehicles tomorrow.

I was in the middle of the same thing. We parked under the overpass just north of the mall. Well it was more like traffic came to a stop and we just so happened to be under the overpass. We were pelted with marble size hail before we got to the point. Luckly, I didn't see any damage to the vehicle when we got home.
We had just picked up the kids from the inlaws off of 27th street, they only had a little rain and wind. Glad we all made it out OK.
