    String Suppressor distance?

What distance from the string are ya'll setting your string supressor at?
Hoyt recommended me to put mine approx 1/4 from the string but I have heard others putting as close as possible without putting any pressure on the string.

mine is set up with about a 32nd of clearence. I do not want it touching the string while it is at the resting position.

mine is set up pretty close, probably just able to slip a piece of paper between the string and stop. Play with it and see where it's the quietest.

Those were the instructions that came with my original STS. They say to start with it far enough that a business card will slip between the two, and then to adjust it in and out to find the quietest setting for YOUR bow.

I put mine about a credit card thickness away from the string. That is what the guy at the bow shop told me to do.

That's only because they want to see you whip that card out and use it in their shop.

On all three of my hoyt's i had it right at the string without any pressure on it but i made sure it was just touching. This was the quietest setting for me. Also you may want to get you a Bowjax to put on your stealth shot. It quieted mine down.

Tuning my Admiral, I was getting a left tear in paper, but got fp and bh together at 30 yds, but had a slight whip in arrow.
Eveything was square, but I made several left/right moves with rest and got basically the same results. Not having shot a bow with a string stop on it much, I decided to take it off and see what happened. Now I have good arrow flight. String stop was just off string at rest.
I put the stop back on, but pushed it as far away from the string as possible,(about 1/4 inch) and arrow flight is still good.
Will run through paper at shop tomorrow and see how it looks.
Shooting late with last groups, bh and fp are together, and I didn't see any whip in arrow.
Hope the paper looks good tomorrow.
I suspect that settings will be different from bow to bow, and have always felt that by interrupting the path of the string with stop, we might have tuning issues. Now I know.

String stop distance change DID NOT make a difference, so bow came apart again today loooking for problem. I think I found it, but shooting is required.
This upsets me because this is the first Admiral I've had any tuning issue with, and it's my personal bow.
