    Need A/C tech advise

I am a firefighter and would like to become hvac certified and licensed in here in Tx. Do you have to get a degree or can I just work for someone for a couple years then take some sort of state test?
All I really would like to do right now is service calls on my day's off.
Any and all advise is going to be appreciated

    Thanks,

    Kirby

I think you still have to work in the business for a few years to get other contractors to vouch for you to get a TXAC license. You necessarily don't have to get a degree but I recommend you take some basic refrigeration, electrical, and controls classes. Then work for someone a few years.

you need someone to write a letter saying you worked for them as a tech for I think at least 3 years..and you can take the test...but if you pass the test... before you get your lic you need to have and carry insurance...and it aint cheap...I would google search it to make sure
